In addition to services funded by Queensland’s Department of Education, School Support Services operates a mobile Education Support Service, which provides additional support to students and young people with Language Disorder within the school environment.
Education Support Services are currently available via face to face and e-service options and suitable for students who would benefit from a block of direct educational support by a speech language pathologist (SLP). This service aims to provide capacity building for school staff to support students with accessing the curriculum.
The SLPs are supported by a multidisciplinary team, including educators, occupational therapists, a physiotherapist and a guidance counsellor. This enables them to deliver a transdisciplinary service to support the holistic development of students and maximise their learning outcomes.
- Formal speech pathology assessment
- Individual speech therapy and capacity building for school staff
- Multidisciplinary consultative service
- 4 week Intensive Support program, including capacity building model for school staff
- Services can be delivered onsite at Brisbane metropolitan schools or via e-services to regional and rural areas. Please note, travel fees may apply for onsite visits.
When accessing Education Support Services it is essential for schools to provide a consistent staff member to be present for all sessions to enable capacity building and long term student support. For e-services schools are also required to provide a computer or laptop with adequate internet connection to handle the software provided by School Support Services.
A service agreement will be required to be signed by the principal or principal’s delegate, before sessions can commence. This outlines the obligations of both the School Support Services and the school.
This service is available to schools on a fee for service arrangement. Contact us for a quote today via email by filling out the below form, or call 1300 881 763.
