SALDA’s Education Support Services team is hosting a professional development series for Early Childhood Educators!
Our first Early Childhood event will be: Reducing Barriers to Understanding Classroom Directions
Over the course of the evening our speech language pathologist and psychologist will present information on supporting young children to understand classroom directions and routines. Opportunities for discussion and collaboration will be provided.
Attendees can expect to broaden their knowledge and develop strategies in the following areas:
- Identifying indicators of poor language understanding in young children
- Applying language strategies to support children displaying challenging behaviours
- Using visuals to support transitions and following directions

SALDA Expressive and Receptive Language
Language refers to the way people share information with one another. Language can be broken down into expressive and receptive language. Expressive language is the ability to put thoughts into understandable words and sentences. Receptive language is the ability to take in and understand information.
