1 in 14 Australian children have a hidden disability known as Language Disorder. Speech & Language Development Australia (SALDA) is the nation’s peak body supporting and advocating for the needs of children and young people with speech, language and related disorders.
For over 40 years our not-for-profit organisation has developed a unique, multidisciplinary approach to helping the 1 in 14 children with Language Disorder find their voice.
We provide education support services in addition to leading on professional development, research and advocacy initiatives related to speech and language disorders. These services include our e-therapy programs, School Support Service and The Glenleighden School. We partner with the community, health professionals, educators and families to help children and young people find their voice.
Our vision is to be the leader in enabling better outcomes for children and young people with disability for whom language is their primary disorder.
The Glenleighden School provides comprehensive, intensive, multidisciplinary programs to suit students P-12 which are individualised to address each students’ developmental and learning needs. Therapists, teachers and assistants work within classroom settings to support students with communication difficulties to access the curriculum.
Physiotherapist
The Physiotherapist is one of the key professionals within the multidisciplinary team at The Glenleighden School, supporting appropriate therapeutic and educational outcomes for students with a disability who have a language disorder. The Physiotherapist will be required to participate in the screening and assessment processes and to develop and implement therapy programs to facilitate development that fosters access to the educational curriculum.
This is a part-time contract position until the end of 2018, with the possibility of extension.

SALDA Position Description – Physiotherapist
Psychologist
We are currently looking for a highly organised individual to join our multidisciplinary team. The Psychologist is one of the key professionals within The Glenleighden School supporting appropriate therapeutic and educational outcomes for students for whom Language Disorder is their primary disability. The Psychologist will be required to participate in screening and assessment processes of students and will provide support for students’ social-emotional needs within the school-based setting.
This is a full-time contract position until the end of 2018, with the possibility of extension.

The administrative assistant is responsible for providing administrative services to The Glenleighden School. The role of the Administration Assistant supports daily administration operations through Reception.
